A 22-year-old Wiltshire man has been jailed after being caught drink driving for the second time.
He pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, using a vehicle without insurance, and drink driving at Swindon Magistrates Court.
The court heard that police officers were called to the scene of a broken down vehicle in a dangerous position at around 6am on Bank Holiday Monday near the Solistice Services at Amesbury.
The defendant tested positive in a roadside breath test and was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and issued with a fixed penalty notice for breaching Covid-19 restrictions.
Investigations revealed that the man had previously been banned from driving and had no insurance. He was jailed for 8 weeks.
Sergeant Russell Griffin said: “It is always disappointing to arrest individuals for drink driving, especially given the current circumstances, and I am pleased that not only has this individual been given a custodial sentence, but has also been banned from driving for three years.”
